The Gizmo's Freeware Community Proves Itself to be Magnificent. Posted: 21 Jan 2014 02:32 AM PST Guys, if I had any right to do do so, I'd say I'm proud of you. In the space of 24 hours after I requested you assist the site with donation,s you generously contributed 85% of the financial target we needed to raise. This totally exceeded my expectations. All I can say is that when we really needed you, you were there to be counted. You are utterly magnificent. Some of you donated incredibly generously. Others without asking volunteered to make monthly donations. And most touching were the hundreds who donated two or so dollars, often from 3rd world countries. Not only am I grateful for your generosity I feel heartened that our team's efforts over the last five or so years have been valued by so many. While your donations are most warmly appreciated it is in fact the fact that what we do here is actually valued by so many that is is the richest reward. From my heart, I thank you all. An Online Office Suite That's a Real Alternative To Microsoft or Google Posted: 21 Jan 2014 02:25 AM PST An internet-hosted cloud-based office software suite is not always the first option that springs to mind when you're looking for software that allows you to edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations. But as Microsoft and Google are keen to point out, it does have its benefits. There's nothing to install, you're always running the latest version, and you can access your files from anywhere that has web access. Which is especially handy if you travel a lot, or like to work at both the office and at home, or if you collaborate on documents with other people. While Microsoft and Google would like you to think that they've got the online office market sewn up, there are actually some pretty good alternative players out there if you're keen to avoid the big 2 goliaths. Team Lab offers an excellent product to companies, at a price to match. But for personal users it's actually free. For the techies among you, TeamLab Office is even available as a free, open source download that you can host on your own server, and thus provide your own secure cloud-based office system for your family, your company, or just yourself. But if you'd rather just start using it, rather than running your own service then their website is where you need to surf to. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/online-office-suite-thats-real-alternative-microsoft-or-google.htm |
