Organise All Your Favourite Electronic Content

The idea of being able to organise and browse all your important electronic clippings (photos, files, web pages, notes etc) in an easy form is nothing new. There are plenty of programs around that aim to help you, with the best-known ones being Evernote and Microsoft OneNote.

One of my recent discoveries is another interesting player in the market, namely a web site called Pearl Trees. To get started, sign up for a free account. You can then create trees of your favourite things (known as pearls), browse them, arrange them, and annotate them.

A pearl can be a web page, a photo, a file or a note. To help you add web pages to a pearl tree you can download a free browser add-in called the Pearler, which adds the current web page to your chosen pearl tree with a single click, ready for you to then go and arrange or annotate.

As a way of keeping an online scrapbook of your favourite things, or even perhaps collaborating on a project with someone else remotely, it's a lot of fun and potentially very useful indeed.
