Nexus 7 holiday ribbonBeen waiting for some really good deals on Nexus devices? eBay has you covered, at least in the case of the 16GB Nexus 7 2013, offering this amazing little tablet for just $189, with free shipping. Considering buying from Google only gets you a $25 Play Store card, I think it’s pretty clear which of the two is a better deal.

But hurry, since the eBay post says there’s only limited quantity available.

LG D830 appears in user agent profile, but what is it?

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 03:49 PM PST

LG D830 User Agent Profile

A mysterious new device going by the model number “LG D830″ has been discovered in a user agent profile. Details are scarce, but what we do know is the display resolution weighs in at 1920×1080 and it appears LTE is on board.

If we compare the D830 to LG’s current lineup, the LG G2 falls under the LG D802 model number, while the LG G Flex falls under DX6xx. That leaves the closest model number being the Nexus 5 which, in the US, is also known as the LG D820, or D821 in the rest of the world.

It’s way too early for Nexus 6 rumors, right? Any guesses?

Verizon marks down full priced LG G2, HTC One Max, Motorola Droid Ultra by as much as $100

HTC One Max Verizon Wireless

We’re not sure if it’s simply a coincidence that Verizon happened to mark down the full, off-contract prices of a few of their handsets on Black Friday, but take it as you will. Jumping onto Verizon’s site, you’ll notice the LG G2 and HTC One Max can now be purchased for $500 outright, while the Motorola DROID Ultra has been discounted to $450. For those keeping track, that’s about a hundred bucks off. We’re not sure how long this will last, as it doesn’t appear to be apart of any temporary Black Friday sale.

Get $5-off a Chromecast and $6 Google Play Store credit when purchased through Amazon [DEALS]

Chromecast featured 2

You’re probably going to see a lot of Black Friday deals around the net, and while not everyone has the money to purchase $300 tablets for their friends and family, $30 should fit just about anyone’s budget. One such purchase I will be making for everyone on my shopping list is Google’s very own Chromecast.

Normally $35, the tiny video streamer has been marked down to $5 on Amazon for Black Friday and still comes with $6 Google Play Store credit promo along with free shipping. Together, that amounts up to some pretty nice savings for a device that wont break the bank. My Chromecast grand total is currently resting at 4 devices since launch (2 for myself, 2 as gifts). How ’bout you?

HTC One Developer Edition and unlocked models receiving KitKat starting TODAY

HTC One M7 thin case DSC01079

HTC is doing it again. Not one to rest on their laurels, it appears that HTC is still going hard in the paint. updating their flagship smartphone — the HTC One — to the latest version of Google’s mobile OS: Android 4.4 KitKat.

Beginning today, those who purchased the HTC One Developer Edition or unlocked models can expect KitKat to hit your devices in time for the holidays, complete with HTC Sense (yes, this is a good thing). It’s pretty crazy when you think about it. It was only last week the Nexus 4 received Android 4.4 KitKat, along with the Google Play edition devices shortly after.

As a phone running a “skinned” version of Android, we almost can’t believe HTC has managed such a quick turn around, leaving most other guys (Samsung, Sony, LG) in the dust. Way. To. Go.

SMS exploit can remotely reboot Nexus handsets

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 10:20 AM PST

Nexus 5 back 1

A new security exploit affecting a number of Nexus smartphones has been made public, revealing a fault with the way the devices handle Flash SMS. The vulnerability, discovered by Bogdan Alecu, can force a device to remotely reboot, freeze, and face connectivity issues as a result.

Flash SMS is a special class of text message that by default is not stored by the system and triggers no audio alert. These are typically encountered as system alerts. When received on an Android device, such a message takes priority, popping up over any open apps or windows. In the case of the Nexus exploit, if a device such as the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, or Nexus 5 receives a number of these messages in succession without dismissal, the device will behave in erratic ways.

The most typical response is a random reboot, but the issues is often compounded by connectivity issues once power is restored to the device. While the exploit creates no immediate concerns in terms of data security and does not allow a would-be hacker to access sensitive info or otherwise take control of a user's handset, it could be used to perform denial-of-service attacks in the same vein as those used to take websites offline.

Android devices, by default, offer no easy way for users to send Flash messages, though there are several apps available to do so. Alecu even offers his own in conjunction with a Flash SMS firewall, designed with the express purpose of preventing an attack via this method.

The root of the issue most likely stems from the way Nexus devices handle memory storage. The large number of Flash messages required suggests the device becomes overloaded to the point where the messaging app either crashes or the handset becomes unresponsive. Alecu has alerted Google to the issue and a fix was expected in Android 4.3. However, this does not seem to be the case based on his latest tests. Non-Nexus Android devices are unaffected.

Samsung spending big on ads, but returns aren’t quite as expected

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 09:04 AM PST

Samsung Galaxy Gear Candy Crush

Say what you will about their smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, but one thing is for sure: Samsung doesn't skimp when it comes to marketing. Already on record as one of the biggest spenders on advertising, a recent report from Reuters delves deeper into Samsung's strategy. Has Paying big paid off?

The short answer is yes, but with a caveat. The $4.3 billion spent on ads and marketing in 2012 is expected to balloon to $14 billion by the end of this year. If anything, it has helped to raise brand awareness around devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, but huge advertising push hasn't exactly established the brand Samsung is going for. Samsung wasn't coy about wanting to create a more Apple-like aura through marketing. In pushing that message, however, the Korean company seems to have lost sight of the bigger picture.

The solution? Spend more, according to brand consultant Moon Ji-hun. With the number of new products introduced in the past year alone, a strong, cohesive advertising push might be the only way to tie it together for consumers.

Most recently Samsung has taken heat for the relatively unsuccessful Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The device has been pushed in advertising more heavily in recent weeks than its counterpart smartphones, but has sold far fewer of the watches than it has Galaxy Note 3 handsets.  Moon believes Samsung was smart enough to know their watch would not be a mainstream hit and sees the added marketing as a calculated maneuver to establish the brand as a future-thinking force of innovation.

Android devices to see first 64-bit CPUs in 2014

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 08:04 AM PST

Qualcomm-12ghz-536x377

Apple was first to offer a mobile device featuring a 64-bit CPU, but speculation says Android makers will soon follow suit. According to a report from Digitimes, chipmakers including Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Broadcom are expected to introduce CPUs with 64-bit architecture that could make their way into smartphones and tablets sometime during the first half of 2014.

The chip designs will be based off of ARM blueprints for their Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A53 silicon, which would closely match the design of Apple's A7 processor. Apple's CPU ranked among the top chipsets in recent benchmarks.

64-bit processing has up until recently remained relegated to the more robust PC systems we normally find on our desktops. But bringing 64-bit chips to mobile devices is only half of the equation. 64-bit native builds of Android would be required to take full advantage of the added benefits of 64-bit processing, and apps and games would need to be updated to match. While Apple launched a version of iOS 7 tailored to the architecture with the release of the iPhone 5S, developers have been slow to bring their wares up to speed.

While 64-bit is most definitely in the future plans for Android manufacturers, the change won't come overnight. But in a marketing war that relies on flashy specs to sell smartphone hardware, expect to see the new chips come to devices sooner rather than later.

Dreaming of a white Christmas? Verizon is making it a possibility in their own with the release of the Motorola DROID Ultra and Motorola DROID Mini in white. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the phones are available for the same price as the standard black and red editions of each.

The Droid Ultra and Mini are two of the latest devices to grace the popular Android line at Verizon, dropping the RAZR name that was associated with previous models but carrying over many of the same features. This includes durable construction utilizing Kevlar in the back plate. The Droid Ultra features a 5-inch 720p display and Motorola X8 CPU, while the Droid Mini features the same behind a 4.3-inch display. Like the Moto X, the latest Droids feature the ability to interact with the devices hands-free using simple voice commands.

The Droid Ultra and Droid Mini are available now for $99.99 and $49.99 on a new two-year contract, respectively. The Droid Ultra MAXX, introduced alongside the Ultra and Mini, did not receive the white color treatment.

Moto G rooted and unlocked

motorola moto g press render

The Moto G might not be the best device in the world, but for less than $200 there are sure to be a lot of people who will find it hard to resist picking one up. So just how easy will it be to tinker with this 10th wonder of the world? Pretty darn easy, if these instructions for rooting and unlocking its bootloader at Modaco are anything to go by.

Paul O’Brien comes through with the downloads and method needed to get going. It’ll require an unlocked bootloader, though that should be no tough task so long as you know your way around fastboot.

You can find everything you need at the source link, but remember to read through the entirety of the instructions before embarking on your quest to free the Moto G’s chains, and remember that thermonuclear war, black hole occurrences, or any other unfortunate incidents as a result of doing this is no one’s responsibility but your own.

AT&T Galaxy S4′s Android 4.3 upgrade resumes rolling out; Galaxy Gear update going out, too

Posted: 28 Nov 2013 11:54 AM PST

samsung galaxy s4 airview

AT&T was one of the first carriers to get Android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S4, which meant it was also the first carrier to notice a big issue with the OTA upgrade. The carrier had to suspend rollouts until Samsung got the issue fixed, but they’re starting to roll it back out now that things are all keen and peachy. This upgrade will bring the premium suite features all other 4.3 Samsung devices have gotten, including improved camera features, Samsung Knox security and more.

Alongside all that is also Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch compatibility. It’s worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Gear is also getting an upgrade that will improve Smart Relay functionality (seeing a notification on the watch and opening the corresponding notification on your device), as well as the ability to view full notifications for all apps without having to defer to your device. AT&T has all the details about what you need to get the upgrade right here, so be sure to check that link out in case you need a bit of help.

Happy Thanksgiving from Phandroid!

Posted: 28 Nov 2013 05:00 AM PST

HappyThanksgiving

It’s that time of year again, folks — the time where you eat a ton of food, pass out, and then wake up at the crack of dawn to stand in cold lines and save big money on big gifts for the upcoming Christmas season. I could only be talking about Thanksgiving, the day that turkeys loathe (no matter how happy they look in those grocery store sales ads in the days leading up).

On behalf of everyone at Phandroid, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, and hope you guys will take some time today to truly enjoy yourself, your family, and whatever other company you might be around. And try not to open your mom’s new Nexus 7 and play with it before you put it under the Christmas tree this year — that’s just rude. Adieu!

Can't Always See Your Mouse Pointer? Here's The Ultimate Solution!

Posted: 28 Nov 2013 02:06 AM PST

I rather like this quirky little free Windows utility, which is called Pointer Stick. As the name suggests, and as you can see from the screen shot below, it supplements your mouse cursor with a large, prominent on-screen pointer stick. You can easily change the stick's colour, including to a rather fetching gold effect. You can also specify just how transparent, or not, the stick is.

The program is designed for when you're demonstrating your PC to others, either in person or on a projector. It's also really handy if you often have trouble seeing quite where your mouse cursor is.

The program is a tiny download, works on Windows XP and above, and is malware-free according to Virus Total and Web of Trust. t's a portable app too, so there's nothing to install and it's easy to delete if you don't like it.

CyanogenMod Installer gets pulled from the Play Store at Google’s request

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 04:07 PM PST

CyanogenMod Installer Android

Well, it lasted longer than we thought. It’s been a little over 2 weeks since the CyanogenMod Installer officially landed on Google Play and today, Google has formally requested the Cyanogen Inc. remove the app from the Play Store. Why? According to the Google Play Support team, the application was in violation of their terms of service.

Before you freak out, Google admits that while the app is harmless (it only enables ADB and directs users to the desktop installer to complete the installation of the CyanogenMod ROM), they simply can’t list an app that encourages Android users to void their handset’s warranties by rooting and ROMing. Google does have hardware partners after all.

Although Google didn’t technically pull the app themselves (you’ll still find it in the Play Store at the time of writing), they asked Cyanogen Inc. do the honors lest they be forced to take “administrative action.”

Cyanogen Inc. is already in talks with Google to see if there’s anything that can be done and already submitting the app to rival app stores from both Amazon and Samsung. In the meantime, CM Installer is still readily available from the official CyanogenMod website where it can be sideloaded like any other app. Instructions and download link provided below.

Android user inadvertantly sends picture of his junk to mother, blames SMS app

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 03:00 PM PST

hello app for android

SMS apps are a dime a dozen in the Google Play Store. It’s one of the luxuries Android users have been enjoying for what feels like decades now. But not all SMS apps are created equal. Many of them feature different UIs, come with their unique bugs, and behave differently than others.

One Android user discovered that the hard way after using “hello”, a free SMS replacement app available on Google Play. While attempting to send a picture message to his mother of a new car he was interested in, he accidentally clicked a picture of his junk he had stored on his phone. What he didn’t know is as soon as tapped, the hello app will immediately send off that pic to its recipient, without the ability to preview or choose a different one.

A slight oversight by the hello developers? Sure. But as the Android user mentions in his Reddit post, it’s going to be one hell of an awkward Thanksgiving.

Wallpapers+: easily search and set Wallpapers from Google+

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 02:51 PM PST

Google has recently properly documented the chrome.wallpaper API, so Googler François Beaufort couldn’t leave his arms crossed. He has created a simple, but nifty app named Wallpapers+. It allows the user to search and set wallpapers from Google+.

Google+ is full of photographers, which makes this a very helptful tool for finding awesome wallpapers. The app is simple, all you have to do is type in search keywords and it will fetch related images. Whether it be from a person’s account or a general topic.

Wallpapers+

It looks ver neat and I hope this is not an experiment Beaufort just used to test the new API. I would like to see it evolve and come to a full, stable version some day. As mentioned, the app is experimental, so only Chrome OS Dev Channel users are able to use it for now.

You can get it straight from the Chrome Web Store, so give it a roll and let us know how you like it!

HoneyDru car charger review [GIVEAWAY]

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 02:14 PM PST

HoneyDru-4

When it comes to chargers, there is no competition for the fun and cute (yes, I used that word) chargers made by “Power by Gen”. These double as a charger and Android figurine, making them the best charger for the loyal Phandroid. You may remember I checked out the ANDRU Dark and ANDRU Chill chargers last year. I fell in love with them and even nominated them as one of my Staff Picks for our Holiday Gift Guide. Almost a year later I sit here with Gen’s newest charger – the HoneyDru!

HoneyDru form factor and build quality

Power by Gen is stepping out of its comfort zone and has built its first car charger. The HoneyDru charger takes the form of the Honeycomb logo, making it a perfect fit because the Honeycomb bee is shaped very similar to a normal car charger. The manufacturer didn’t have to tinker much with the design of the logo to make the charger look like the original Honeycomb bee. Even the metal parts of the charger make sense, that stinger just belongs there.

This makes the charger a rather unique and familiar Honeycomb figure. This is why it makes sense that Power by Gen chose Honeycomb over any other of the 3 newer Android iterations. The design of Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean or KitKat art wouldn’t make as much sense as this heart-warming bee does.

The eyes and wings light up when the charger is ready to go. I found it serves as a reminder that it’s time to charge your phone. It lighting up always catches your eye. Not to mention it looks very neat and always gets compliments.

HoneyDru-2

When it comes build quality, the HoneyDru doesn’t have much to complain about. The “stinger” part feels a bit wiggly, which I would say is about my biggest complain. That doesn’t take much away from the charger, though. Unless it makes it prone to getting damaged in the long run, which I doubt would be the case. This part doesn’t ever seem to be very solid in other car chargers either.

There is a bit of a gap between the plastic pieces (in the left and right). I wish those were smaller, but it’s also me being nitpicky. All other parts are solid and in their place – no piece is going where it shouldn’t. The unit does feel solid, as well as the spiraling cable, which keeps the chord from going all over your car when in use. It also stretches from 8 inches to 3 feet, so it’s rather flexible.

HoneyDru charging capabilities

With an output of 5V/2A, this charger is designed to power up a tablet. This will make charging a smartphone relatively fast compared to other chargers out there. As a comparison, the original ANDRU charger (and many other chargers out there) output only 1 amp, making the HoneyDru twice as powerful.

HoneyDru-5

Conclusion

What can I tell you? It’s a charger! It does what it’s supposed to do and it does it right. What makes the HoneyDru special, then? It’s really just how good-looking it is!

Any Android fan would be ecstatic to see one of these in the car’s dashboard, and that is ultimately what Power by Gen offers: good quality chargers with an awesome design for the Android fan. I fell in love at first sight as soon as I opened the package.

You can buy the HoneyDru car charger for $19.99 straight from GEN or Amazon. It’s not the most affordable charger, but it’s also not that much more expensive than other chargers. Hell, I have seen some that cost more and aren’t nearly as cool. I say it’s the perfect deal for those who want a little something extra in their charging experience, which tends to be an annoyance.

HoneyDru-3

GIVEAWAY: Win one of five free HoneyDru chargers!

Our friends at Power by GEN have decided to start the holidays by giving away 5 HoneyDru chargers! We know you will enjoy one of these as much as I did, so you might want to sign up and see if you get lucky!

Here is how you can enter to win:

  • Follow Phandroid and Power by Gen on Google+.
  • Leave a comment below telling us which was your favorite Android mascot! (Mine was hands down the Ice Cream Sandwich one).
  • That’s it!

Of course, there are some rules. For legal reasons, we can only offer this to US residents. You must also link your email to your comment (same as the one you use on Google+). We will have to add the winners to our circles to verify they have added both accounts to their circles.

The contest will go on until Friday at 12 PM Pacific. We will announce the winners during the weekend, so stay tuned! Aside from that, it’s pretty straight forward. Good Luck!

Chromecast apps get their own hidden section on the Google Play app

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 02:01 PM PST

Chromecast app category on Google Play

Still not sure if it’s an “Easter egg” or simply a layout problem, but when viewing the “Apps” category in the Google Play Store app, a special “Chromecast” section seems to be hidden off to the side. It’s only viewable when turning your Android device around in landscape mode, and when clicked, shows you the usual assortment of Chromecast apps compatible with the Chromecast. Also, swiping to the “Categories” section also reveals the button, acting as some kind of weird overflow.

Nothing too huge, just something Chromecasters might wanna keep an eye on for future additions. Something tells me once the SDK goes live, it’ll get a lot more crowded in there.

Cheers, Anuj!

Moto X getting $150 discount off-contract for Cyber Monday

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 11:29 AM PST

Motorola Moto X Boot animation DSC00738

Motorola doesn’t want to be left off the great Black Friday train that’s pulling into town in a couple of days. The Google-owned company is putting out a great deal for those who are looking to buy a Moto X without the added commitment of a two-year service contract. They’ll take $150 off the top of any unlocked Moto X, including the developer edition and versions bought through the Moto Maker.

This means you can get yourself one of the first phones to have been upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat for as little as $350, which is the same price you can find the 16GB Nexus 5 for over at the Google Play Store. The Moto X might not have a full HD display, a quad-core processor or a huge battery, but Motorola has put together a no-frills smartphone with great, useful features that exist for more reasons than just novel show-and-tell.

The developer edition of this phone is an especially attractive buy now, with Motorola recently committing to keeping warranties alive for anyone who decides to unlock their bootloader. It’s yet another good guy move in a recent string of many that has Motorola winning over tons of new fans as the weeks roll on. You wouldn’t be making a mistake in making this your next smartphone, so roll on over to Motorola’s site and take a look at your options ahead of the insane savings going down this upcoming Monday.

Blu Life Pro aims to be a pretty decent and VERY thin smartphone for $300

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 10:24 AM PST

blu life pro 1New kid on the block alert: Blu has a smartphone they want to sell you for $300, and it doesn’t look too bad. They’re calling this thing the Blu Life Pro, a 5-inch 720p device that’ll house a 1.5GHz quad-core processor (MediaTek make), 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 12 megapixel backside-illuminated camera with a whopping 5 megapixels for the front.

The device will launch with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, though there’s no word on whether or not it’ll ever go beyond that. At this point you’re likely looking at the list of specs and wondering what they could be making so much noise about.

Well, one of the selling points they’re banking on is that this is the world’s thinnest 5-inch smartphone. There aren’t tons of 5-inch devices out there so it’s not like it was terribly hard to claim that feat, but there it is anyway. They’re also touting “Blu Bright+,” the camera technology that will supposedly perform extremely well in low-light conditions. It’s too early to tell if that’s a legitimate claim or if they’re just using buzzwords to try and make it sound better than it really is.

blp3

When you think about the fact that you can grab the Nexus 5 for just $50 more, you start to wonder how Blu could hope to win the hearts of those who are educated in mobile technology. We’ll have to keep the microscope fixated on them over the next month to see how they plan to do that, but what you see is what you get. Does this look like something you’d want for $300?

Get $50 off any tablet priced $150 or more at Staples today only; 2012 Nexus 7 for $120 from Groupon [DEALS]

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 08:42 AM PST

‘Tis the season to buy your loved ones some pretty nice tablets. A couple of great deals have gone up this morning that will help you do just that. Let’s get Staples out of the way first, because you’ll only have until the end of business today to take advantage of it.staples tablet coupon

You can get $50 off any tablet that is priced at $149.99 or more, giving you a pretty decent discount on something like the Nexus 7 2013. The deal is applicable both online and in-store: you’ll need coupon code 18702 for online orders. In-store orders can be redeemed simply by showing the coupon to the clerk (either print it out or show it to them on your mobile device).

Groupon also has a decent deal for those of you who don’t mind buying a year-old tablet. You can get the 2012 Nexus 7 starting at $120 for the 16GB version, or drop $30 more for double the storage. You’ll have until midnight Sunday to take advantage, so you’ll have a bit of time to think about it (though quantities are limited, so you’ll want to think rather fast). Groupon is limiting this to three per person, with the option of buying two more as gifts. Go ahead and give it a long look at their website if you’re interested.

Samsung Galaxy S5 said to hit mass production January, launching alongside next Galaxy Gear

Most folks’ honeymoon period with the Samsung Galaxy S4 is pretty much over. The Note 3 has launched, and other devices are stealing a lot of thunder headed into 2014. Samsung is usually right into the thick of development for their next flagship right around this point, but new rumors suggest the team is well ahead of schedule on the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Korean outlet ETNews is reporting that Samsung is on-track to begin mass production of the smartphone as early as January, and could be setting it up for a March or April release. This means we could see the phone announced as early as CES in January 2014 or Mobile World Congress the month afterward.

The Galaxy S5 is rumored to be similar to the Galaxy Note 3 under the hood, as Samsung will look to at least match the Note 3′s Snapdragon 800 processor (alongside a possible Exynos Octa-Core variant capable of 64-bit computing), 3GB of RAM and more

With that, ETNews also says Samsung will unveil the next generation of the Galaxy Gear smart watch alongside the Samsung Galaxy S5. If you feel like it hasn’t been that long since the first entry in the company’s new smart watch line-up dropped, you aren’t alone.

It has long been reported that Samsung’s first Galaxy Gear smart watch was rushed to market to try and beat a possible Apple-bred competitor. As such, many folks have resided to jokingly calling it a “prototype for sale,” and that Samsung’s true first real attempt at a smart watch wouldn’t take long to come to market.

The lackluster Galaxy Gear hasn’t turned many heads to this point with the company reportedly generating only 50,000 sales (on over 800,000 units shipped to retail to date). We’ll have to wait a while yet to see if Samsung’s next attempt is worthy of praise.

The leaked ad you see above shows the HTC One Max, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX will be key points of focus. Do you like to download things from the Internet? Do you try out a lot of different programs? These days you can't be too careful about what you get from the Internet. Here is how to make those downloads safer.

One of the easiest ways to do a security check of what you are interested in is to use the free online service VirusTotal. This service will scan a submitted file with dozens of different anti-malware programs. Files can be uploaded from your PC to VirusTotal for checking but an even better procedure is to check a file before you download it. You can submit the download link to VirusTotal and get it scanned without the file ever being on your system.

The most convenient procedure is to use one of the add-ons that VirusTotal provides for the major Internet browsers. These add-ons place an entry in the browser right-click context menu that provides an online check of a selected URL. All you have to do is right-click a download link and quite quickly you will get a report of the results of scans from multiple anti-virus programs. Here is how to get the VirusTotal add-on or extension for the three major Windows browsers.
